IC is about developing good ideas and after that a concept by using a variety of creative techniques, such as co-creation, brainstorming and doing research. IC is actually a major part of the beginning of the design process. But IC is also a competency which will be important during the whole design process. It could for example happen that after you did a user test you need to redefine your concept according to the found results. First semester I had some difficulties with “Killing your darlings” but after last semester I finally start to getting used to this idea. So starting all over again after our pressure cooker from our project last semester was for me easier to do then first semester.

During our project we spent more time in the IC phase. We also used different new learnt techniques to come up with interesting and strong concepts. Quick and dirty prototyping is a technique which helped us the most to develop an original concept for our project on a creative way.

I feel like a greatly developed my IC competency this semester. Although the growth is significant smaller than first semester, I am still pleased with the achieved growth, becasue approaching the ideation phase from a creative perspective was one of my goals for B1.2. Still there is still room for development. I think that I still have too little knowledge about other techniques which I can use, so learning and applying a new technique next semester is something I want to do.
