User Focus and Perspective

UFP

UFP is all about observing and getting to know the needs of your potential user to make a good user-focused design. You need to do field research and communicate a lot with your user to get the information you need to getting to know your user and his/her or their needs. Only then you are able to make good designs which fulfil the user’s wishes. This semester I focused the most developing this competency.

During our project B.O.B I really focused on how to involve user input in our design process and how to obtain this input in the first place. By doing and setting up user tests I really developed this competency to the awareness level. This new awareness which I now have is useful to have as a designer. I am now more aware of the importance of involving your users in the design process to create a concept which they like and want to have/use.

The next step I want to make is concentrating on interaction design. I don’t know much about this so that’s is something I want to develop or learn about next year.
